Edward A. Levin, M.D.
(1905-1994)



Dr. Edward Levin was born on December 18, 1905, in Lithuania.  After graduating from U.C. Berkeley in 1928, he received his M.D. degree in 1932.  He interned at Mt. Zion Hospital and took his residency in the Department of Pathology at Mt. Zion.  Dr. Levin received dermatologic training at Western Reserve from 1933-1935 and became a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology in 1938.  He taught at UCSF as a Clinical Instructor from 1935-1941, and as an Assistant Clinical Professor from 1951-1975.  Dr. Levin's practice was located at 2299 Post Street in San Francisco. 

Dr. Levin's other appointments include: Clinical Instructor in Syphilis at the California Department of Public Health from 1938-1939; Attending Dermatologist at the Veterans Administration, Fort Miley in San Francisco from 1946-1953; Consulting Dermatologist at Letterman Hospital in San Francisco from 1946-1952; Chief of Dermatology at Mt. Zion Hospital from 1957-1965; and Medical Consultant to the California State Board of Health from 1959-1961.

He was a member of the San Francisco Dermatologic Society, American Academy of Dermatology, the Society for Investigative Dermatology, and the Pacific Dermatological Association.  Dr. Levin served as President of the Pacific Dermatological Association Meeting in 1952 and as Chairman of the Dermatology Section at the California Medical Association Meeting in 1955.
