On, May 28, 1976, the 4th PSRC Meeting was held at the Syntex Auditorium in PaloAlto.
It was held just before the first US-Japan meeting in Sendai, Japan,
and the delegations were able to attend this PSRC meeting as well.

John and Bill Epstein at lunch time in the courtyard of the Syntex building.
On the next day, participants from Japan were invited to a day trip to Napa County. .
Recently, Dr. Kiyoshi Nishioka sent us a memo from his experience
at the PSRC meetings.
First step in USA by Kiyoshi Nishioka. I first joined the Pacific Skin Research Club in 1976 and 1977 in San Francisco. In 1976 Prof. Ofuji, Prof. Yamada, Dr. Maie and myself were invited to join the meeting. It was my first trip to the USA. The meeting was held in Palo Alto, where I presented my work in front of world-famous dermatologists. I know their names from international journals, but it was my first and an exciting experience to meet them. I was so nervous when I arrived at the lecture hall at Syntex Co.; however, the relaxed atmosphere of the meeting made me feel at home. We had 30-40 participants. Several papers were also presented by young US dermatologists. The discussions of every paper were all suggestive and encouraging. I really enjoyed the meeting. After the meeting we had an excursion to visit Napa valley to taste California wine. It was also a personally wonderful experience. Since then, I have joined the PSRC several times. The meetings were held in a warm atmosphere and provided a chance for young Japanese dermatologists to present papers in an English speaking meeting. This was the idea of Prof. Fukuyama to help educate Japanese dermatologists to become more international. Now we have many young Japanese dermatologists who can freely communicate at international meetings.
