Professor Hsin-Su Yu Dr. Shiou-Hwa Jee Kaohsiung Medical College National Taiwan University President’s Message It is my great pleasure and privilege to invite you to attend the 22nd meeting of the Pacific Skin Research Club (22nd PSRC) held in The Grand Hotel, Taipei, Taiwan on Oct. 2~3, 1999. This meeting has been organized annually to permit investigators from Asia, the United States and the European countries to meet informally and discuss current investigative studies presented by young investigators. The first PSRC meeting took place in the year of 1973, and has been held in Italy, Japan, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States. One unique feature of the 1999 meeting in Taiwan is that it will address several important topics which are important for young dermatological investigators, including : (1) the future of Dermatology and Dermatological research (Prof. Irwin M. Freedburg of NYU), (2) how to design and perform experiments more efficiently (Prof. Tung-Tien Sun of NYU), (3) recent advances in epithelial mesenchymal interactions (Prof. Cheng-Ming Chuong of the University of Southern California), and (4)barrier function in the skin (Prof. Peter M. Steinert of NIH). Participants will have the opportunity to interact face-to-face with these speakers, and section leaders as well as Dr. Sam T. Hwang and Dr. Shyh-Ing Jang from NIH for small group discussions. It is my hope that you will join us. I guarantee that you will enjoy the scientific discussions as well as the beautiful city of Taipei. Sincerely yours, Hsin-Su Yu, M.D., Ph.D.
