We were invited to a One Day Taipei City Bus Tour
to see the cultural and historical sites in Taipei.

The National Palace Museum,

spanning China's 5,000 year history.  Pieces on display are treasures from the ancient Imperial collection which include jade, porcelain, paintings, bronzes, and more.

City streets are modern and active.  We did not miss McDonald's
and other familiar names mixed with the Chinese symbols.

In addition, many of us visited other sites of interest such as
the Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall

Unlike other structures in Taipei, this monument is built of majestic marble and surrounded by landscaped gardens.  We noticed it is a very popular site for newly wed couples to have professional photos to be taken.

Another interesting site we visited was Shung Ye Museum of Formosan Aborigines, wich was founded  in 1991.  The idea is to promote a better understanding among different ethnic groups through mutual appreciation, respect, joint creativity, and empathy to each other.  We saw the past, present, and...

  :

...the future of people in Taiwan.

The last place we visited was Taipei Medical College, where we received a special welcome from Dr. Chung-Hong Hu, president, and faculty of Taipei Medical College.  We had lunch at Din Tai Fung Cafe, a world famous dim sum restaurant listed in the New York Times as one of the top ten in the world, and dinner at the World Trade Center.

Dr. Chien-Tsu Chen, Professor of Biochemistry, was our personal guide for that day.
